After Maruti Hyundai goes for CNG
Hyundai’s understood that and to counter Maruti’s LPG Wagon R, It has introduced a CNG version of the Santro. One thing is clear immediately — the retro-fitment is no sloppy job one sees at so-called specialists’ workshops. The connections are secure, the mounts are solid and the cylinder has its own smart jacket too.
Moreover, Hyundai bowfins have up-rated the rear suspension to deal with the extra weight of the 12kg (capacity) CNG cylinder, so the Santro’s ride characteristics do not suffer majorly.
Inside, a little black petrol/ CNG selector switch-cum-CNG-level indicator, mounted inside the righthand-side cubbyhole next to the steering column, is the only giveaway.
