From today it will be only Re in Hotels

From Saturday most hotels in India will go for room rate pricing in rupees only. It date hotels were following duel tariff system which allowed them to quote room rates in both Indian rupee and US dollars.

According to a TOI report NRIs and foreign guests were charged dollar tariffs, which was pegged 10-15% higher than the rupee tariff paid by Indians.

On their part, hotel companies get duty concessions while importing equipment and motor cars under the export promotion capital goods (EPCG) scheme against its foreign exchange earnings.

But with the weakening of dollar against rupee now major hotelier like Taj group, ITC, and Oberoi hotels have decided to price their services in rupees only because they feel that there is more value for money earned in rupees.
