IT professionals to get workplace health insurance –Government

With growing number of young IT professionals suffering from lifestyle diseases, the government is planning a workplace health policy for those working in this sector.

Informing about the policy, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Anbumani Ramadoss today said he would soon be meeting with IT Minister A Raja on this matter.

Expressing concern over people dying as early as 25 and 26 from cardiac problems, strokes and mental disorders, he said such people face a lot of work-related stress and peer pressure.

It is a key sector. And we don’t want people to burn out before their time. After forming the policy, we would want the industry to follow them. The use of traditional medicine would also be a part of the policy, the Minister said.
