According to a CNN IBN report, In 2005, Pradyut Pal a Idol maker of Kolkata launched a website to book idols online.

“I launched the website in 2005 and since then business has increased manifolds,” says Pal.
From three idols in 2005, the number of orders has gone up to 12 in 2007 and online purchases have been made from as far New Zealand.
This might be incentive enough for more incentives to follow Pals example.

Now many other local organisers have opted for the idea of selling Durga idols online, the overseas response has been overwhelming.
Lokking at the response these Idol makers are now planning to get an website where their NRI custmors can also get video of their work.
