
India condemn the attack on Bhutto, leaders conveys relief over escape
Condemning the barbaric attack on former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani today called her up to express relief over her survival in the deadly assassination bid.
Advani had a brief conversation with Bhutto, who narrowly survived the worst-ever terror strike in Pakistan on Thursday night, and wished her well and success in life.
He also conveyed his condemnation of the deadly attack and expressed relief that she has been saved.
On her part, Bhutto invited the senior BJP leader to visit Pakistan as she was not in the country when he visited last.
Earlier in the day India termed as “reprehensible” the bomb blast at the homecoming procession of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Karachi and said all governments should make determined efforts to deal with terrorism.
“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Karachi yesterday. It is reprehensible that senior political figures are targetted in this way with such loss of innocent lives,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Navtej Sarna said.
He said the “spectre of terrorism confronting our region requires strong and determined action by all our governments.”
