Are Wipro and Boeing IT coming together

Wipro Ltd, third-largest software services exporter of the country, is in talks for software and technological support contract for an upcoming Boeing facility in India, an official said on Monday.

Boeing is investing $100 million in a maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in India’s western state of Maharashtra.

“We are talking to them. But it’s too early to comment, whether this will be a joint venture or an alliance or in some other form,” Partha Sarathi Guha Patra, a vice-president at Wipro Technologies, the IT services arm of Wipro Ltd, told Reuters.

other media reports says Wipro would be providing software tools and technological support for an array of aircraft checks and maintenance programmes at the Boeings facility.

“Generally 22-25 per cent of any MRO investment goes to IT services. But it’s really difficult to say now. It’s going to take another 8-12 months,” Patra said.

Wipro gets most of its revenue from IT services arm. It also has interests in computer hardware, consumer care and lightings.
